Travel to and About Vieques

The extraordinary free-roaming wild horses and the world-heralded Bio-luminescent Bays and the acres and acres of exploring to be done surrounding the dense forests and mountains, even Mount Parata and perfectly named Mesa Mountain, are all yours . . . as you wind around and down to the never-ending and always breathtaking beaches of Vieques Puerto Rico.

CdP map

Casa de Playa Vieques rests on a small wildlife preserve on the northeastern shore of our island. She is the defining moment of our tiny finca de judy y bill, collected and pasted together as a perfect park and refuge for our friends in nature, for the iguanas and land-crabs, the egrets and pelicans, neighboring chickens and occasional kitty-kats, neighboring friends and our guests, and ourselves.

Travel to Vieques

In our Barrio street numbers are not yet much used. It is possible, however to Google us with my rudimentary directions to a DGer (dogged-googler): from the Plaza and the Oficina de la Alcaldia, take Carlos leBrun past the Catholic Church on the right and continue over a small bridge and another one mile until you pass ballfield on left and Iguana Bar on right and another block, take left of a Y and go past small placita on right. From there take next lefthand turn (off Carlos leBrun. If you miss this turn you will soon see Vieques Humane Society on your left. TOO FAR. Turn around and go back to turn now on your right.) and go one block west, stop, see few white casas with hyacinth trim. Turn right and go one short block to Casa de Playa Vieques on Playa de Santa Maria, also known as Bastimiento. White casa with hyacinth trim.

Vieques two town centers, Isabel Segunda just under a mile from CdP and Esperanza on the south– offer a variety of restaurants, shopping, art galleries, internet cafés, and resort facilities as well as water and sporting activities.

DIALING VIEQUES

If you call Vieques en route, you must include 1.787.741.etc., and even on island must dial 787.741 before the last 4 digits of phone number.

AIR TRAVEL

Cape Air 800.352.0714 Earliest morning flight to Vieques.
Vieques Airlink “VAL” 787.741.8331 Longest running airline in area.

Planes do not fly after dark.

FERRY SERVICE

There is also ferry service available from Fajardo to Vieques. Ferry Service involves picking up your luggage in SJU and walking directly out to street to catch publico or cab. Prices range up to about $90.00 for more than one passenger, for a two-hour drive to the Fajardo ferry each way. It is a good idea to confirm cost for your passengers and luggage before getting in.

Air is now about $175 return for 15 minute flight, on a 12 – 16 seat plane, per passenger. Ferry ride of about 1:20 is $2.00 and air conditioned. If you wish, our property managers can meet your group at either arrival location. Bring your cellphones.

CAR RENTALS

Cost about the same everywhere, to my knowledge +$60 per day. More info can be found on: www.viequesevents.net
